When the federal government shuts down, certain immigration services may be delayed or limited. Most essential departments, like the Department of Homeland Security (DHS), U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS), and Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), continue operations — but some programs such as E-Verify and the Department of Labor’s certification services may be temporarily unavailable.
